Casting Call: A Look at Contemporary Metal Casting

The ArtLab is seeking submissions for the exhibition Casting Call: A Look at Contemporary Metal Casting. Any artist 18 and older and currently based in the US is eligible. Work of made of any metal within the last three years will be considered. Casting Call will open January 17th 2020 in conjunction with the ECU Material Topics Symposium and will be on display until January 25th.

The Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge will retain 40% of the purchase price for any works sold. Unfortunately, we are unable to cover the cost of return shipping. Please include a pre-paid return shipping label with your accepted works.

About the Juror
Born and raised in Southern California, Hosanna Rubio currently resides in Greenville, North Carolina, where she graduated from East Carolina University with an MFA in Metal Design. She received her BA in Art Education from California State University Long Beach, where she also studied Metals and Jewelry. Hosanna specializes in creating wearable art pieces and small-scale sculptures that explore themes inspired by her personal experiences with issues such as health, medicine, and nature. She is the winner of the 2018 Lydon Emerging Artist Program through the Society of Contemporary Craft, and was recently featured by American Craft as an emerging artist. Her work has been exhibited regionally and nationally, and is in the collection of the Enamel Arts Foundation. When she’s not in the studio or the classroom, she spends her time serving on the Board of Directors for the Center for Enamel Art, a non-profit organization aimed at the preservation and advancement of enameling.
